Son fires warning at Liverpool ahead of Champions League Final showdown

Tottenham Hotspur's Heung-min Son has delivered a stern caution to Liverpool ahead of the impending UEFA Champions League final clash. The 26-year-old attacker is hoping to be 'on fire' when his

side battles with its Premier League rivals at the Wanda Metropolitano on June 1.

It's been a lengthy but impressive campaign for the former Bayern Leverkusen forward who has arguably been Spurs' best player of the season. Justifiably so, part of the London club's historic feat in the Champions League can be attributed to the South Korean attacker as his three goals in the quarter-final against Manchester City was crucial in setting up a semi final date with Ajax. Despite failing to score against the Dutch outfit, he equally contributed his quota as his side staged a dramatic turnaround to progress to the final at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

Ahead of the final, Son addressed his side's preparations and hopes to hit a purple patch to upset Liverpool come June 1 at the Wanda Metropolitano.

"I think everyone needs this time to rest," he was quoted to have said by Evening Standard.

"We're trying to get as fit as possible, to make sure we give everything in this game. "I am a really, really positive guy and it is one of the best feelings to be playing in the Champions League Final. So I just want to make sure that I am ready for every single ball and every single second.

"It is in three weeks, so everything is in our hands. I hope that I am in fire mode!"

Both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool aim to become the first English club since Chelsea in 2012 to lift the UEFA Champions League trophy. The latter featured in the final of the previous edition but was defeated via a 3-1 scoreline to Real Madrid.
